Business education as we know it is in major transition. The fundamental concepts of business — how to create, articulate, and deliver value – have not changed. The traditional business disciplines are still very relevant. However, all business disciplines are now underpinned by technology. This is particularly important for Finance. Business school graduates are now expected to create value with technology, use data to make decisions, leverage emerging technologies to solve complex problems, use technology as the basis of new business models, and perform with ethics and integrity.
In this talk, Dean Prastacos will make a presentation of the School of Business, one of the leading Business Schools in the USA at the intersection of Business and Technology. The school is particularly known for its leadership in the areas of Analytics, Finance and Fintech. Ranked among the top universities in the country, in terms of Return-on-Investment, the Stevens School of Business offers 8 undergraduate majors, 12 masters programs, 3 Doctoral programs, and plenty of executive programs. It hosts the only research center funded by the National Science Foundation to advance research in fintech, as well as the state-of-the-art Hanlon Financial Systems Center and Labs. 嘉宾简介：
Gregory P. Prastacos is the Dean of the Stevens School of Business since February 2012. He is also the founder and co-chair of AACSB’s Digital Transformation Affinity Group (DTAG). He holds a PhD in Operations Research, an MS in Computer Science and a BS in Computer Science, all from Columbia University. Prior to joining Stevens, he was Rector (President) at the Athens University of Economics and Business, in Greece, and before that, he was on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. He has held visiting appointments in France, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, India, and China.
Dr. Prastacos is an internationally recognized scholar in the field of Operations Research and Analytics. His research has been published in top journals, includingManagement Science, Operations Research, Journal of Management, Journal of Business Ethics, J of the Operational Research Society, Annals of Operations Research,and more.His book on “Managerial Decision Making” has been translated in Chinese and published by Tsinghua University Press. His book on “Leadership through the Classics” has been published by Springer. His upcoming book on “Leading and Managing in the Digital Era” will be published by Springer (2024). For his research, he has received a number of awards, including the Edelman Award by INFORMS.
Professor Prastacos also has significant consulting experience. He has been Senior Partner and Chairman of Deloitte Consulting in Greece, and has led many projects in a number of sectors including banking and finance, transport, retail,health,localmunicipalitiesand more. Professor Prastacosserves on the editorial board of several academic journals.He is an elected Fellow of the Washington Academy of Sciences.
